MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. -- An incident near Stover has given new meaning to the words "Daddy look." A young boy brought a vintage grenade to his father after he found it Tuesday evening outside a residence off of Golden Nugget Boulevard in Morgan County, Mo. The pin had been pulled and the spoon was missing.

The grenade was still live, according the Morgan County Sheriff.

The man took the grenade from the boy and placed it on a picnic table before calling police.

Morgan County deputies evacuated residents close to the area and called the Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad, Missouri State Fire Marshall’s Office and the U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit.

The Army EOD was dispatched, took possession of the grenade, brought it to the Morgan County firing range and detonated it.

The EOD confirmed that the grenade was live.

The sheriff and fire marshal’s office are conducting an investigation of the incident. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 573-378-5481.
