Tree of Caring campaign to benefit local nursing scholarship fund

Published: Tuesday, November 24, 2009 8:32 PM CST
OSAGE BEACH, Mo. -- Motorists passing Lake Regional Hospital this holiday season are sure to notice three large trees near the intersection of Highway 54 and Nichols Road.

These trees are part of Lake Regional Hospital Auxiliary’s annual Tree of Caring campaign and are decorated through the sale of lights and stars. Proceeds from the campaign go to the Ethel Rayburn Nursing/Health Care Scholarship Fund, which awards three scholarships to nursing or health care students annually.

Single lights may be purchased for $5, six lights may be purchased for $25, and 12 lights may be purchased for $50. Stars are available for $100. If desired, this can be done in honor or memory of a friend or loved one. The names of those honored will be displayed in the Wish-U-Well Gift Shop at Lake Regional Hospital.

Lights and stars may be purchased at the hospital gift shop through Dec. 25. For more information, call 573-348-8264 or visit www.lakeregional.com.

More than 300 auxiliary members contribute more than 56,000 hours of service annually at Lake Regional Hospital. Each auxilian participates in a variety of activities that fit their own special talents and interests, including staffing the Wish-U-Well gift shops and Xpressions of Flavor coffee shops.
