OSAGE BEACH, Mo. – The Blue Room has gotten its full moon through the hands of local artist Lisa Frick.
Club owner Joey Homm requested the moon over the Lake scene striking a nostalgic cord with Frick, who has painted hundreds of T-shirts with similar depiction after she opened Frick & Frack on the Bagnell Dam Strip so many years ago.
But the mural did not come without an artistic curve. Frick had not worked with an airbrush in about 15 years she explained.
“It was a challenge getting the old critters to work without a bunch of coughing and sputtering, but I got them going. Painting with them was like getting back on a bicycle I hadn't ridden in years,” she said.
Frick anticipates this mural will lead to more at the comedy club and perhaps beyond. She says Homm would like to have a landscape showing Papa Joes’ homestead in Europe, among others.
Frick has previously created murals in Ft. Myers Beach and Naples in Florida and several in Missouri.
“It's fun getting back into it. When I was in the office at Frick & Frack all day I didn't have time to go out and do something like this,” she said.
“Now that I've got the great employees that I do, I've got the freedom to work my talent... which has been a dream of mine for years. I'm a lucky girl.”
