OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — The numbers are in, and the 35th Annual HK’s Hospital Benefit Golf Tournament, held June 7-9 at The Lodge of Four Seasons, raised $160,000.
Proceeds will help Lake Regional Health System expand its Sleep Medicine program. Plans include adding two rooms to the Sleep Lab and purchasing the latest technology for monitoring sleep patterns and equipment for home studies.
“We’d like to thank the many sponsors, golfers and volunteers for their generous support,” said Michael E. Henze, chief executive officer of Lake Regional Health System. “Sleep is essential for health and well-being. If untreated, sleep disorders can contribute to obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease and related conditions.”
Lake Regional’s Sleep Lab treats nearly 600 patients annually, diagnosing sleep disorders such as sleep apnea.
The Annual HK’s Hospital Benefit Golf Tournament — traditionally held the first weekend in June — has earned in excess of $2.6 million for Lake Regional medical departments and the purchase of new medical equipment. Areas of the hospital that have benefited from past tournaments include the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Obstetrics Department, Cancer Center, Wound Healing Center and Cardiac Cath Lab. The tournament was established by Harold Koplar, founder of The Lodge of Four Seasons.
“We’re pleased to support the hospital,” said Susan Brown of Four Seasons Companies and HK’s Tournament Committee co-chair. “Access to quality care is essential to our growing community.”
This year, sponsors who donated $1,000 or more were invited to attend a VIP/Celebrity Party on Friday evening at The Lodge of Four Seasons. Honorary Chair Chase Daniel, a quarterback with the Kansas City Chiefs, presented a custom-engraved gift to each sponsor.
More than 200 people attended the Pairings Party on Saturday evening, which featured live and silent auctions. On Sunday, 240 golfers played The Cove Golf Course — the Lodge’s signature course designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr.
“Thanks to the community for their tremendous support again this year,” Brown said. “We could not be successful without our generous sponsors, donors, golfers and volunteers. We also are grateful to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Chiefs Ambassadors and other sports celebrities, including NFL Referee Mark Hittner and KU Basketball Legend Bud Stallworth, who are major contributors to the tournament each year.”
Brown also thanked the event co-chairs Cecilia Thomson and Peter Brown Jr., and Honorary Co-chair Walter White.
