James Leland Scrivner, 89, of Eldon, Missouri, passed away Saturday evening, April 13, 2013 at his home. He was born October 12, 1923 in Moniteau County, Missouri, the son of the late Lelia C. (Opie) and Ernest E. Scrivner. He was also predeceased by his wife; Ruth Marie (Schlesinger) Scrivner who died March 11, 2000, a daughter Carolin Braden, a grandson, a great-grandson, a sister; Pauline Geiger, and 7 brothers; Jewel, Howard, Harold, Forrest Gene, Junior Dale,, Larry and Gary.
Survivors include 3 Daughters; Marylin Whittle of Aurora Springs, MO, Bonnie Hees of Eldon, MO, Connie Brimer of Versailles, MO, a son; James Wayne Scrivner of Springfield, MO, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren, a sister; Byrlene Connell of Eldon, MO.
James served in the US Navy, was a member of Post 2442 VFW, Eldon, MO, and a member of The First Church of the Nazarene, Eldon, MO. He worked for Camp Sabra in Rocky Mount, MO and drove bus for the Eldon School District for 25 years. He also enjoyed farming and drove a milk truck for Kraft.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 17th at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, Missouri from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 18th at Phillips Funeral Home. Burial will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery, Tuscumbia, Missouri with full Military Honors provided by VFW Post 2442, Eldon, MO.
